Our third visit to this winery where the tasting fee is a smile. Yes, just a smile.
Generally I'd rather pay $4 but whatever. I guess I'm just a curmudgeon. :)
We are always warmly greeted and the staff here is universally excellent. They aren't huge, but they know how to take care of customers.
Ruby Blues doesn't have a huge portfolio but what they do have is very tasty. To wit:
Ruby Blues 2016 Pinot Gris ($20.00)
White flowers and pear dominate the nose. Pear, apple and citrus on the palate which features a pleasing mouthfeel. 89.
Ruby Blues 2016 Viognier ($25.00)
White flowers, peaches, nectarines and tropical fruit on the nose. The tropical fruit and stone fruit linger on the palate. Juicy and really delicious. 90.
Ruby Blues 2015 Gewurztraminer ($20.00)
Aromas of lychee, rose petals, tropical fruit and a hint of spice. Pineapple and lychee are the flavors in this juicy and long finishing beauty. 90.
Ruby Blues 2016 White Stiletto ($20.00)
A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Muscat.
Orchard fruit, lychee, and a touch of spice on the nose and the palate. Well balanced acidity. A perfect patio sipper and a real bargain. 90.
I could have sworn I tasted at least one red as well but I didn't make any notes to support that theory so that's it for now. We left here with a few bottles of terrific wine as usual.
